Commissioning of Steam Boiler No. 2 at the EC4 Department in Legnica – ICS238
We are pleased to announce that on December 20, 2023, the 72-hour trial operation of the KP2 steam boiler at the EC4 department of the KGHM Legnica plant was successfully completed.
The main objective of the system modernization was to adapt the KP2 boiler (firing throat gas together with coal dust) for co-combustion of throat gas and natural gas, while simultaneously reducing emissions to the following levels:

During co-combustion of natural gas and throat gas: NOx and CO emissions reduced to 100 mg/Nm³ (at 3% O₂ in flue gas),

During combustion of natural gas only: NOx and CO emissions meeting IED directive and BAT conclusions requirements (NOx 60 mg/Nm³, CO 15 mg/Nm³ – at 3% O₂ in flue gas).
All the set targets have been successfully achieved.
