Testing of the Co-Combustion System for Post-Reduction Gas and Natural Gas at Huta Cynku “Miasteczko Śląskie” S.A. – ICS245
Last year, ICS S.A. completed a project for Huta Cynku “Miasteczko Śląskie” S.A. titled “Technical and Economic Study on Mixing Natural Gas with Post-Reduction Gas, Distribution of the Mixed Gas within the HCM Natural Gas System, and Its Efficient Combustion in Process Heating Equipment.” This year, ICS signed another contract for the construction of a test installation.
The objective of the current project phase was to conduct tests of the co-combustion system for post-reduction gas with natural gas under conditions as close as possible to those of the target installation described in the Study. For the purpose of the tests, column RPb4, located in the new part of the ORC hall, was selected.
Key test assumptions:
- Ensuring a nominal gas flow rate of 1,587.8 Nm³/h.
- Achieving a maximum share of energy from post-reduction gas combustion at the level of 50% of the total combustion energy, assuming a calorific value consistent with reference data.
- Maintaining the production efficiency of the column during the tests within ±5% of the reference test value.
The conducted tests confirmed all project assumptions, thereby validating the effectiveness and safety of the developed co-combustion system under industrial conditions.
ICS S.A. extends its sincere thanks to PREMONT, responsible for the execution of mechanical works, and to ControlTec, which developed and implemented the control system. The cooperation between both companies made a significant contribution to the successful execution and completion of the entire project.
